PINoptic FAQs

What is Visual Probabilistic One Time Password (VPOTP)?
A clever way of providing the user with a secure one-time password using existing numeric keypads together with pictures or symbols

How much does a PINoptic
solution cost?

Customers can purchase a PINoptic Software Development Tool kit to design and implement a bespoke solution or a PINoptic development team can design a system for the customer on a per seat license agreement.

Who are your competitors?
PINoptic has a number of competitors, as you would expect in such a crucial market. We know of several other VPOTP companies as well as alternative security solutions such as tokens, chip & pin and biometrics but believe that we offer a higher level of security which is more cost-effective and easier to implement than our competitors.

Can the visually impaired use a PINoptic based security system?
PINoptic has been designed so in special instances such as a blind user, a pin number or pattern can be used. We believe that if PINoptic becomes ubiquitous, these vulnerable users would be protected as the majority of people using VPOTP would make attacking a small segment of the population unprofitable for fraudsters.

What about overseas where the PINoptic system might not work when using a bank card?
As in the case of Chip & PIN, PINoptic would allow a simple signature to be used along with the magnetic stripe. Having said this we believe that PINoptic is so easy to implement it can be implemented as easily as chip & pin on a global basis but offer significantly higher levels of security.

Can we use our own symbol set?
Yes you can use your own set of symbols on your PINoptic authentication security solution if you wish but don't forget that the standardised PINoptic numeric symbol keypad will provide ubiquity for major applications.

Is it limited to the 10 keys of a numerical keypad?
PINoptic is absolutely not limited to the 10 keys of a numerical keypad, in fact it could be a set of keys in any shape you like.
